U.S. Forest Service – Every Kid in a Park

Every year, beginning September 1st all kids in the fourth grade have access to their own Every Kid in a Park pass at everykidoutdoors.gov. This pass provides free access to national parks across the country.

Lightfoot’s Adventure Preparedness Packs

In cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service’s Every Kid in a Park initiative, Tread Lightly! has developed Lightfoot’s Adventure Preparedness Packs. These packs are equipped with tools that help children learn how to be safe and responsible while they enjoy outdoor activities.

Contact the Education and Training Programs Manager to request packs for your youth events.

Packs include: drawstring backpack, safety whistle, rain poncho, flashlight, pencil, Lightfoot stickers and basic first-aid kit.

Discovery Agents App

Tread Lightly! has partnered with Discovery Agents to produce ethics education challenges at U.S. Forest Service mission sites across the nation. The Discovery Agents app encourages children to engage with their surroundings while in the outdoors.

Agents of Discovery is an educational mobile game for kids aged 6 to 14 years that is available for free download in the App Store and Google Play. The game sends kids on adventures to recover the agents’ lost USBees. USBees are robotic bees that store knowledge about the world, and they have escaped from the Queen Bee’s HIVE – Oh no! In order to find USBees and recover their lost knowledge, players must solve educational Challenges by exploring the real world and participating at sites.
