Tread Lightly! Impact Report: Black Hills National Forest Cleanup

Project: Black Hills National Forest Cleanup
Project #25/50
State: South Dakota

Description: This project was funded by the Quadratec 50 for 50 Initiative. Together with Tread Lightly!, Quadratec has committed to fund a project to improve off-road trails and public lands in each state by December 2023.

On May 13, ten volunteers from the Black Hills Jeep Club removed 1,500 pounds of trash from the Black Hills National Forest in South Dakota, improving 7 miles of trail. Along with this cleanup, the Quadratec 50/50 Program supported the Black Hills Jeep Club education outreach event in the Black Hills National Forest. This work helped to not only provide a preseason clean-up of popular trails in the Black Hills but also functions as an educational outreach event where the club hosts off-road training, provides OHV stickers and shares the Tread Lightly! Ethic.

This project marks the halfway point of projects completed across the United States thanks to Tread Lightly!, Quadratec and amazing volunteers across the country. Thank you to everyone involved for helping us #ProtectTheAdventure for future generations of outdoor enthusiasts.

Thank you to the following partners for their support:

  • Black Hills Jeep Club
  • Quadratec

“Thank you to the Black Hills Jeep Club for bringing the Tread Lightly! ethos through education and stewardship to one event in this unique and beautiful forest. We’re proud to support these efforts alongside Quadratec.”-Evan Robins, Tread Lightly! National Stewardship Programs Managers
