Project: Seven Mile Rim, Project 2

Description: This project was funded by Can-Am Off-Road. Can-Am has committed to funding twelve trail stewardship projects in the state of Utah in partnership with Tread Lightly! to help maintain and improve access to public lands and off-road trails.

On August 9th, 4 volunteers from Red Rock 4-Wheelers, Tread Lightly! staff, a Tread Lightly! volunteer and the Bureau of Land Management Moab Field Office started work on a buck and rail fencing project in the Seven Mile Rim area of Moab, Utah, not far from the Uranium Arch. The work focused on building several hundred feet of buck and rail fence. The area is a very heavily traveled area and has seen impact from that use, including travel on some non-designated routes. This project was a start to a larger project that is set to be completed in conjunction with National Public Lands Day in September. This portion of the project was completed earlier to make sure that the total project will be completed on time.

In addition to this buck and rail project, Tread Lightly! was able to inspect the fencing project that was completed in April at the Halfway Stage House through the support of Can-Am. Tread Lightly! is happy to report that the fencing is still looking great and appears to have mitigated the intrusions that we were seeing from range cattle into this historic site.
