22 Nov Tread Lightly! Impact Report: Finger Lakes National Forest Fall Cleanup with Lucky Hare Brewing
Project: Finger Lakes National Forest Fall Cleanup with Lucky Hare Brewing Company
Location: New York
Description:On September 30, 2023, 15 volunteers gathered for a fall cleanup in the Finger Lakes National Forest in New York. Together they removed 5,996 pounds of litter and illegally dumped items from dispersed recreation areas in the forest. They also replaced rotten boardwalk timbers for footpaths and disposed of old ones.
This is the second Finger Lakes project supported by Tread Lightly! in 2023. Lucky Hare Brewing Company, a local brewery, hosts these cleanups twice a year to give back to its local community and rewards volunteers with a free beer after the work is done. Torq-Masters Industries stepped up and donated the dumpster for the project to give back to public lands in their home state of New York.
Thank you to the partners who made this possible:
- Lucky Hare Brewing Company
- Torq-Masters Industries
- Finger Lakes 4×4
“Torq-Masters Industries and local Fingerlakes 4×4 Club were happy to help clean up dispersed campsites in the Fingerlakes National Forest this fall. Torq-Masters donated the dumpster and the Club members donated their time to the clean up day. Thankfully the campsites were in great shape and campers this summer were practicing Tread Lightly! principles during their visits.” – Cora Jokinen, President of Torq-Masters Industries
