Description: This project was funded by the Quadratec 50 for 50 Initiative. Together with Tread Lightly!, Quadratec has committed to fund a project to improve off-road trails and public lands in each state over 24 months.
The Iowa River OHV club installed two educational signs at the Nicholson-Ford OHV Park in Marshalltown, IA. The signage included information about the T.R.E.A.D Principles and park regulations to help visitors enjoy the area safely and responsibly. Along with the signage, 20 Carsonite boundary makers were installed to keep visitors out of the water and inside the trail system to prevent issue on adjacent private property.
Rather than purchasing a cost-prohibitive Carsonite post installation tool, club member Brian Arrowood donated the materials and fabricated one to install the posts.

“The park would not exist if it weren’t for volunteers, and at this point it would be a dangerous mess and still closed to the public if it weren’t for their efforts. Marshalltown got hit hard in 2020 by a storm we’ve never heard of called a derecho. Straight line hurricane level winds lasting for at least a half hour left the park in shambles. Since 2020 we’ve been working hard with funding help from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to try to make our park even better than it was before.
