23 Jul Tread Lightly! Impact Report: Trail Restoration at Diamondback Gulch
Project: Trail Restoration at Diamondback Gulch
Location: Arizona
Description: On May 23, 2024, 12 volunteers from the Red Rock OHV Conservation Crew and Tread Lightly! worked to improve Diamondback Gulch, a popular OHV trail in beautiful Sedona, Arizona. This work completed a longtime project to help the area recover through maintenance of existing drainage ditches to restore cryptobiotic soil and to heal trail braiding on the trail.
Thank you to the partners who made this possible:
- Red Rock OHV Conservation Crew
- Coconino National Forest
“This project was the icing on the cake to complete our now infamous Donut Hole project. What is awesome is that this crew has learned so much from specialists over the last few years that we can really be an even stronger asset to the Forest Service in restoring trails properly. It is gratifying to see this area recovering so well. Thanks to Tread Lightly and the USFS for their outstanding and tireless partnership.”- Nena Barlow – Owner Barlow Adventures
