Description: This project was funded by Can-Am Off-Road. Can-Am has committed to funding trail stewardship projects in partnership with Tread Lightly! to help maintain and improve access to public lands and off-road trails.
On June 25-26, 2024, three volunteers traversed the Dixie National Forest to help improve the area.
Volunteers and coordinators began with the Yankee Meadows area to replace and update designated route markers and Carsonites along the Markagunt OHV Trail. They also installed updated signage that clearly marks the motorized trail networks on kiosks at three different locations in the area.
On day two, they traveled to the Strawberry Ridge area where guide signs were installed that directs traffic from the main highway. From there, they headed towards Dairy Canyon replacing and updating Carsonites along the way. In Dairy Canyon, which ends on private property, volunteers removed trees that were cut down to illegally block access to the area.
Together, they covered 87 miles of motorized trails in the area and installed two posts, one guide sign, three new updated signs at different locations, and updated 17 Carsonites. Thank you to D&P Performance and Iron County for volunteering, and Can-Am Off-Road for providing the Defender Pro Limited UTV.
