Tread Lightly! Impact Report: Wildcat Fire Restoration Project

Project: Wildcat Fire Restoration Project
Location: Arizona

Description:

On January 25, 2025, Tread Lightly!, the Tonto Recreation Alliance, and Tonto National Forest staff joined 75 volunteers to work together to restore the Cave Creek District in the Tonto National Forest affected by the Wildcat Fire in 2024. Together they planted 100 native trees to support the natural watershed and spread three acres of seed and mulch to revegetate the area.

Single track and 4×4 users came out in large numbers to support the restoration of the area and re-open OHV trails that have been closed since May 2024. Because of this project, over 100 miles of single-track trails in the area will be able to re-open to public use in February 2025.

Thank you to the partners who made this possible:
