General Membership FAQs

Q: When will my membership packet arrive in the mail?

A: Membership packets are sent out once a week on every Friday. Packets can take between 2-3 weeks to arrive. Please wait 3 weeks before inquiring. Note: if you sign up for your membership on a Friday,

your packet will not go out until the following Friday. You will also receive a digital copy of your membership letter via email. The benefits listed on the digital membership letter can be used immediately (with the exception of the FCA discount as there is a 30 day waiting period). Some benefits will come within your packet, you must wait to use these benefits once your packet arrives.

Q: What if I do not receive my packet within 2-3 weeks?

A: If you do not receive your membership packet after 2-3 weeks of signing up please contact us at membership@treadlightly.org

Q: What if I want to cancel my membership?

A: You can manage your membership by selecting “manage my donation” which is located on the bottom of your sign up email. You can cancel your automatic renewal at anytime.

Q: Can I get a refund of my membership?

A: No, all of our memberships are non refundable. Please make sure you are checking with your dealership BEFORE purchasing a membership as we will not be able to refund you if the dealership will not accept the FCA discount. Again, all purchases are final and will not be refunded.

Q: How often do I need to renew my membership?

A:  As of May 1, 2025 all memberships are set up on automatic renewal. You will receive a reminder email before your membership renews, which you can cancel your auto renew if you choose.

Membership join dates before May 1, 2025

No memberships before May 1, 2025 will automatically renew. You will receive a reminder email a month before your membership will expire. If you choose to renew, you will then be on our automatic annually renewing plan, which you can cancel anytime.

Example:  If you join on July 17, 2023, your expiration date and date of renewal

will be July 17, 2024. We do not hold onto your credit card information. Your membership will not be

auto renewed. You must manually enter in all your information on the membership join form to renew. If you choose not to renew, you can simply let your membership expire, there is no need to cancel your membership as we will not automatically renew it.

Q: Will I be notified when my membership is up for renewal?

A: Yes, you will receive 3 renewal notices via email. The first will arrive the month before your renewal

date, the second on the month of your renewal, and the last the month after your membership has

expired. Once you renew, you will not receive any renewal notices. If you renew and are still receiving

renewal notices, please reach out to the TL! Team.

Q: What if I have a change of address before my membership packet is sent?

A: If you have a change of address, please contact the Tread Lightly! team as soon as possible. membership@treadlighlty.org

Q: Do I need to keep my membership letter and email?

A: Yes! You should keep your membership letter and email for your records. Furthermore your membership letter

will be required when using the FCA discount. You will need to provide a copy to your dealer as proof of

membership. Your digital membership letter will work just the same as the one you will receive in the

mail. You can send your dealership the digital membership letter as sufficient proof of membership.

Q: Can my friend use my membership benefits?

A: Tread Lightly! benefits are designated for Tread Lightly! members only. Spouses with the same last

name are eligible to use the FCA discount with Dealership approval and FCA approval. Please contact your dealership or FCA to check for their approval, we cannot approve it.

Q: What if I misplace my membership letter?

A: If you misplace your membership letter please refer to your digital copy. If you do not have the

digital copy, you can receive one from the Tread Lightly! Team. Please reach out to one of the contacts below.

Q: I need my membership letter fast. Can I get my digital letter early?

A: No, you cannot. Letters are processed in bulk once a week. We are unable to provide letters earlier

than the processing date. We process on Friday’s. If you sign up on a Friday, you will not receive your

letter until the following Friday.

 

Benefits

Q: How long do I need to be a member before I can use the FCA discount?

A: All members are required to be active members for 30 days before utilizing the FCA discount.

All other benefits can be used immediately upon arrival of digital or mailed packet.

Note: Renewing members do NOT have to wait the 30 day waiting period. Even if there is a lapse in your membership, renewing members will not be required to wait the 30 day waiting period.

Q: At what level do I qualify for the FCA discount?

A: The FCA discount is only available to $100 Individual members and above.

Q: How will I receive the information to utilize my FCA discount and other benefits?

A: Your membership packet will be sent via USPS. Your membership packet will contain all the necessary information needed to utilize all membership benefits. An explanation of how to use benefits will be included on your membership letter. You will also receive a digital copy of your membership letter. This letter will also contain the information necessary to use your FCA discount.

Q: Can someone at Tread Lightly! Provide a control number?

A: No, this must be done through the FCA website. Instructions on how to create your profile on their website will be included on your membership letter/email. You must create a profile on their website and follow their processes. We have no access to control numbers or assistance with creating an online FCA profile. Please do not reach out to Tread Lightly! to obtain a control number, we will only direct you to the FCA website.

Q: I am a renewing member, do I have to wait 30 days before using my FCA discount?

A: No, you do not have to wait 30 days to use your FCA discount as a renewing member. You will just

have to wait until you receive your digital membership letter via email to use the discount. You cannot receive this letter earlier than the processing date.

Q: How do I utilize my BFGoodrich Tire rebate?

A: To utilize your BFGoodrich Tire rebate please visit https://treadlightly.tirerewardcenter.com/. Please direct all questions about tire rebates directly to BFGoodrich Tire. This discount is only available to $100

Individual members and above.

Q: What do I need to have for the dealership to utilize my FCA discount?

A: 1.To use the FCA discount you will need to follow the instructions on your membership letter.

1a. You will need to create a profile on the FCA website. We suggest using a gmail account if possible

  1. You will need to create your personal control number by using the Tread Lightly! company code-

this is located on your membership letter.

  1. Provide a copy of your membership letter to your dealer as well as the control number

Q: How do I know what vehicles are covered under the FCA discount?

A: Chrysler has the right to add or remove vehicles at any time to the FCA discount program. Please

check with your dealer before purchasing your Tread Lightly! membership. Visit Chrysleraffiliates.com for more information.

Q: Is my membership tax deductible? 

A: No. Memberships are not tax deductible. Only donations are tax deductible.
