31 Aug Quadratec 50 for 50 Impact Report: Citrus Tract Cleanup
Project: Citrus Tract Cleanup
Location: Withlacoochee State Forest, FL
Project #4/50
State: Florida
Description: This project was funded by the Quadratec 50 for 50 Initiative. Together with Tread Lightly!, Quadratec will fund a trail restoration project in each state over 24 months to help improve or enhance public lands and off-road recreation areas.
On Saturday, August 27, 2022, 40 volunteers in 30 rigs worked together to clean up the Citrus Tract in the Withlacoochee State Forest in Florida. Together, volunteers removed more than 1,200 pounds of trash from the 50,000 acre forest.
Two off-road clubs, Venture Unknown and Florida Trail Stompers, combined efforts and worked as teams of six rigs to cover the area thoroughly. Some volunteers even brought their whole families to participate in the project. Food was provided to the volunteers by Coney Island Food Vendors. Thank you to these incredible volunteers for making such a large impact on their local public lands and forest roads.
This was the fourth project of fifty as part of Quadratec and Tread Lightly!’s 50 for 50 initiative. Over the next 2 years, the partners will fund and a project in each of the 50 states that improves public lands or off-road trail access.

“The cleanup day in Citrus Wildlife Management Area was amazing. A huge thanks to Dakoda Baker for all the effort he put into organizing and coordinating this event. Citrus WMA has been a focal point of inspiration for me and my Tread Lightly! outreach endeavors and it was awesome to see the community come out and support this event. We are now looking forward to the next Tread Lightly! project in Florida!!!”-Don Cox, Tread Lightly! Volunteer
