Tread Lightly! Impact Report: Cinder Hills OHV Area Cleanup

Project: Cinder Hills OHV Area Cleanup
L
ocation: Arizona

Description: On May 15, 25 volunteers gathered to help clean up the Cinder Hills OHV Area in the Coconino National Forest. Together, volunteers removed over 1,000 pounds of trash, including six tires a two large tractor tires from the area.

Thank you to the partners who made this possible:

“The Cinder Hills Cleanup sits at the ideal intersection of public and private stewardship. It was inspiring to see so many volunteers come together to make a tangible difference in a fun and supportive environment. The collective effort not only improved the beauty of Cinder Hills but also fostered a strong sense of community and stewardship that cuts across common political boundaries. We are lucky to have an organization like Tread Lightly! to bring us all together ” Jason Costello, Canyon Coolers

“This is the third year that we have partnered with Tread Lightly! for a Cinder Hills OHV area clean up. In just a few hours we were able to clean up over a half ton of garbage left behind in the OHV area. The Flagstaff R.D. truly appreciates the efforts by everyone involved past and present in these efforts and look forward to continued events to help improve conditions for responsible recreation throughout public lands. Volunteering is an easy thing to talk about, but actually getting organized and making it happen is a special thing to see come together. Thank you all for being willing to volunteer your time on public land!”-Matthew Sommer, USFS
