03 Jan Tread Lightly! Impact Report: Cottonwood Spring Signage
Project: Cottonwood Spring Signage
Location: Arizona
Description: This project was funded by Can-Am Off-Road. Can-Am has committed to funding trail stewardship projects in partnership with Tread Lightly! to help maintain and improve access to public lands and off-road trails.
On November 5, 2024, the East Valley Backcountry Horsemen did some much-needed work on Cottonwood Spring to restore this important water source for wildlife habitat.
The partners and volunteers involved are excited to get this spring flowing again for wildlife. The fencing portion and only scope item for this project was completed in fall 2024. The Game and Fish Department will use members of their Habitat Planning Team to complete the water line repairs from the Cottonwood Spring to the water catchment. Thanks to Can-Am Off-Road, Tread Lightly! was able to provide educational information and a map on much-needed signage for this area along a heavily used OHV trail.
Thank you to the partners who made this possible:
- Can-Am Off-Road
- US Forest Service
- Arizona State Parks
- Tonto Recreation Alliance
- Backcountry Horsemen
