Project: Heber–Kamas Ranger District Travel Management Signage Improvement
Location: Utah
Description: On July 12, 2025, Tread Lightly! partnered with a volunteer team from Goldman Sachs to complete an important travel management signage improvement project in the Soapstone Basin area of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. A team of nine volunteers dedicated their time to replacing worn and damaged travel management signs along designated routes throughout the basin.
These updates play a crucial role in supporting responsible and sustainable recreation. Clear, accurate signage helps forest users navigate safely, stay on authorized routes, and comply with travel management regulations designed to protect sensitive habitats and maintain trail integrity.
By engaging directly in land management tasks, volunteers contribute to a shared stewardship model that strengthens public land protection. Even a few hours of service can significantly amplify the efforts of land managers like the U.S. Forest Service, helping maintain access, protect natural resources, and improve visitor experiences.
Tread Lightly! and the Heber–Kamas Ranger District extend sincere appreciation to the volunteers and partners whose dedication made this project possible. Their commitment supports long-term conservation and demonstrates the positive impact individuals and organizations can have when they work together on behalf of public lands.
Thank you to the partners who made this possible:
• Goldman Sachs
• U.S. Forest Service
