20 Dec Tread Lightly! Impact Report: Official Argentine Pass Cleanup Run
Project: Official Argentine Pass Cleanup Run
Project Location: Colorado
Description: On October 12, 10 vehicles and 15 people from the Rising Sun 4 Wheel Drive Club of Colorado headed out to Argentine Pass for a ride and cleanup of one of the club’s favorite trails. The weather was a textbook fall day in the Rockies – warm and sunny at the bottom, cold and windy up top. It was even spitting snow above tree line!
Rising Sun has been doing regular cleanup efforts in this area and the good work and responsible ethics are paying off. On this day, the group managed only a few bags of trash and a muffler throughout the beautiful and scenic ride, totaling 65 pounds of trash removed from this pristine location.
As a bonus, the group had representatives from Tread Lightly! and the Overland Expo Foundation, who provided funding support for any PPE materials needed.
Thank you to the Overland Expo Foundation for making this work possible!
Thank you to the following partners for their support:
“A huge thank you to Overland Expo Foundation for their ongoing support of trail reclamation and cleanup projects in conjunction with Tread Lightly! And thank you to the Rising Sun 4 Wheel Drive Club of Colorado for providing boots on the ground for these cleanup efforts, but even more appreciation for helping to spread the word about responsible behavior about disposing of trash in proper locations. A cleanup project with minimal trash is such great news as it means people are doing their part to help Protect the Adventure for future generations.”- Lowell Eckart, Southeast Program Manager, Tread Lightly!
