Project: Public Land Stewards China Hat Cleanup

Description: On Saturday May 10, 2025, nearly 100 volunteers worked for four hours along China Hat Road within a closure area to help the Forest Service in Deschutes National Forest begin a multi-year NEPA project to clean, rehabilitate, and reopen a large area of public lands.
Together, volunteers removed over 65,000 pounds of trash, allowing the flora and fauna of the area to rehabilitate and to mitigate wildfire risk. This project kicks off a multi-year, multi-project plan to help rejuvenate the area with Public Land Stewards.
