Tread Lightly! Impact Report: Sedona Diamondback Gulch Trail Restoration

Project: Sedona Diamondback Gulch Trail Restoration
Location: Arizona

Description: On September 26, 2024, 10 volunteers with the Red Rock OHV Conservation Crew (RROCC) worked to restore rutted out trails on the Diamondback Gulch Trail in Sedona.  Due to natural and manmade trail erosion, the trail ruts have made it more difficult for off-roaders to use this trail safely. This restoration ensures that riders can stay on the designated path rather than going around the obstacles and widening the trail.

Thank you to the partners who made this possible:

“The work that was done recently, and has been done throughout the years, is so important to keeping the trail in tip-top shape, always keeping safety in mind, and further delineating the path for users coming and going on a daily basis. It is a fragile area but with everyone’s diligence and respect this trail, along with the others in the area, can be used by all peoples for a long time!” Michael Gordon, USFS

“The passionate people of RROCC/Tread Lightly! and the work they do for the Red Rock Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest is very important to the USFS in helping to manage and maintain the many OHV Trails in the district.

This group, made up of wonderful individuals, helps to identify issues and problem areas on the district’s OHV trails and helps to organize volunteers to work to address, maintain and repair these issues and problem areas. With the dedicated work and continued support of RROCC and Tread Lightly! we can find and maintain problem areas more frequently and efficiently. This helps us provide a safe environment and quality trails for recreation opportunities to diverse user groups.”-Scott Gailus, USFS
