26 Nov Tread Lightly! Impact Report: Sugarloaf Staging Area Signage Installation
Project: Sugarloaf Staging Area Signage Installation
Location: Arizona
Description: This project was funded by Can-Am Off-Road. Can-Am has committed to funding trail stewardship projects in partnership with Tread Lightly! to help maintain and improve access to public lands and off-road trails.
On October 3, 2024, three volunteers assisted Tread Lightly! and the Tonto National Forest in the installation of a new kiosk and educational signage at the Sugarloaf Staging Area. Together, they were able to install a three-panel information and map kiosk for motorized recreationalists in this heavily used area. Along with responsible recreation messaging, the signs included information about the local flora and fauna to educate users about the area’s ecosystem.
Thank you to the partners who made this possible:
- Can-Am Off-Road
- Tonto National Forest
- Tonto Recreation Alliance-TRAL
- Arizona Plasma

“The Tonto National Forest is very grateful to have such wonderful partners as Tread Lightly! to help support the OHV program and our recreating public. The information kiosk at Sugarloaf Staging Area was a much-needed improvement, and we couldn’t have done it without the help and coordination from Tread Lightly! We also want to thank Tonto Recreation Alliance, Arizona Plasma, and the funding provided by Can-Am that helped make this project possible.”-Kelly Araiza OHV Program Manager
