Tread Lightly! Impact Report: Bronco Wild Fund: Ultra4: Legends of the Fall Lake Havasu Cleanup

Project: Ultra4: Legends of the Fall Lake Havasu Cleanup
Location: Arizona

Description: This project was made possible thanks to the Bronco Wild Fund.

Lake Havasu City is in western Arizona known as a base for trails in the nearby desert and watersports. From October 27-29, 2023, it was also the homebase for the Ultra4 Racing Legends of the Fall race, which took place in Standard Wash near the city.

On the day after the race, Tread Lightly!, along with Ultra4 race staff, JT Taylor and Miles Hasselquist, gave back to the nearby Standard Wash Open OHV Area by packing out trash from the area and leaving it better. In total, over 2,500 pounds of trash were removed from the desert including an abandoned RV, pop-up camper, old tires, and nails left behind from burned pallets. In general, most of the trash was not from the race weekend, but the trash that was found had been left behind from long ago. Thank you to the Bronco Wild Fund for making this positive work possible and Ultra4 Racing for bringing the Tread Lightly! ethic to its events and leaving the desert better than we found it.

Thank you to the partners who made this possible:

·         Bronco Wild Fund

·         Ultra4 Racing

·         Bureau of Land Management

“The BLM is tremendously grateful for everything Tread Lightly! and supporting crew members have done for the cleanup of Standard Wash Open OHV area after the Ultra4 USA Legends of Havasu event. Lake Havasu Field Office looks forward in continuously working with the local community and Tread Lightly as they continue to support our field office and community events.”-Sabrina Bice, Bureau of Land Management

“Course cleanup was a long one but successful. We cleared all of the course markers and picked up nine bed loads of trash. Most of it was not from the race but we like to leave the area better than we found it. Big thanks to Tread Lightly! for coming out and helping! Also, a huge thank you to our racers. The pit area was very clean! You guys and girls rock!”-JT Taylor, Ultra4 Race Director
