Tread Lightly! Impact Report: Determination Towers Fence Repair-Easter Jeep Safari 2024

Project: Determination Towers Fence Repair-Easter Jeep Safari 2024
Location: Moab, Utah

Description: This project was made possible thanks to the Fox Trail Trust.

On March 25, 2024, 26 volunteers joined Tread Lightly! for its first project of three to restore off-road trails in Moab, Utah.

After a safety briefing, volunteers wheeled past Courthouse Rock and Monitor and Merrimack to the project site at Determination Towers. There, volunteers disassembled around 100 feet of existing worn buck-and-rail fencing and used those pieces to repair areas along the over-800 foot of remaining fencing.

Volunteers also rebuilt a section of around 70 feet of buck and rail that is used to protect sensitive areas from motorized traffic. In total, this project helps protect eight miles of iconic Moab trail.

Like our vehicles, our public lands need periodic maintenance, and this project is a great example of the off-road community working to maintain standing infrastructure.

Thank you to the partners who made this possible:

“What a great kickoff to EJS 2024! We were thrilled to see everyone who showed up to do their part to protect this incredible trail and the sensitive habitat in the area. Thank you the Fox Trail Trust for making this project possible and all of our volunteers who continue to help us Protect the Adventure”-Mike Sype, Tread Lightly! Marketing and Communications Director
