Tread Lightly! Impact Report: Happy Jack Kiosk and Signage Installation

Project: Happy Jack Kiosk and Signage Installation
Location: Arizona

Description: This project was funded by Can-Am Off-Road. Can-Am has committed to funding trail stewardship projects in partnership with Tread Lightly! to help maintain and improve access to public lands and off-road trails.

On November 13, 2024, five volunteers installed two new two-panel kiosks and signage on heavily used OHV trails in the Happy Jack area in the Coconino National Forest.

The new signage features up-to-date trail maps, responsible recreation tips and the T.R.E.A.D. Principles, local OHV laws, and information about local flora and fauna.

Thank you to the partners who made this possible:

“We’d like to say thank you to Can-Am for funding this project. Their support makes a real difference in ensuring that natural areas like Happy Jack remain accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Additionally, a big thank you to Tread Lightly! for working so hard to see projects like this completed and for letting us play a small part in this one.”-Katie Hansen, AZ Plasma

“Without the generous support of Can-Am, and commitment from Tread Lightly!, and AZPlasma, these OHV-focused educational kiosks would not have happened so efficiently. The Mogollon Rim Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest is grateful for their dedication and continued partnership. Partnerships like these make a positive impact on the forest and the public we serve. We now have six 2-panel kiosks on heavily used Forest System Roads with plans for an additional 3-panel kiosk in the near future”-Brady VanDragt, Acting District Ranger Forest Service
