Tread Lightly! Impact Report: Kiosk Signage in the Coconino

Project: Kiosk Signage Project in the Coconino National Forest
Location: Sedona, Arizona
Description:
This project was completed in collaboration with the Bronco Wild Fund, Ford’s initiative to help build a legacy of access, preservation, and stewardship. A portion of the profits of every Ford Bronco sold goes directly to support responsible access and preservation of public lands.

On May 19, 2022, Tread Lightly! hosted this project on the Coconino National Forest in the Sedona area of Arizona. This area and its beautiful red rock views is a haven for people that enjoy motorized recreation. Because of this draw and the overall increase in motorized recreation that has been seen in the last 2+ years, a collection of OHV related local businesses and Tread Lightly! created the Red Rock OHV Conservation Crew (RROCC) to bring improved motorized recreation education and stewardship activities to the area. These new kiosks were a part of those continued efforts. This project was the initial installation with additional kiosks being installed in the upcoming months.

Tread Lightly! would like to thank RROCC, Broncos of Sedona and Bronco Nation who joined us on this project and helped leave this beautiful area better than we found it.  And a very special “thank you” to Ford, Ford Performance, and the Bronco Wild Fund for the amazing support of the Tread Lightly! stewardship efforts through this Tread Light! Care (TLC) project.

“The Red Rock OHV Conservation Crew has been doing great work in the Greater Sedona area. We felt that it was important to bring our collaboration with the Bronco Wild Fund to the area and support the activities of RROCC. We hope this new signage not only brings a beautiful new look to these kiosks, but also provides useful and valuable educational content as people recreate in the Sedona area.” – Matt Caldwell, Executive Director, Tread Lightly!

“Tread Lightly! continues to provide solid support for many of the issues we have here in the Sedona area. We’re excited to have them as a partner and be able to team up with the Bronco Wild Fund and bring these beautiful new kiosks to our forest. The Tread Lightly! Team came up with an eye-catching design that is simple to understand yet extremely educational and informative. I’m certain they will have a positive impact for years to come.” – Tim Angus, Owner, Outback ATV Rentals

“Working together with our partners and stakeholders is how we can accomplish special projects like this to benefit the community and protect our natural resources. The USFS and Tread Lightly! have partnered to create and produce new kiosks that clearly explain to users the Tread Lightly! principles and the stay-on-trail concepts.  Education is very important to keep the recreation users aware of the locations of the trails and the potential negative impacts to off-trail use. We look forward to continued partnerships with our stakeholders and partners.” – Chris Johansen, District Recreation Program Manager, Forest Service, Coconino National Forest, Red Rock District
