27 Nov Tread Lightly! Impact Report: Mount Holly Springs Watershed Cleanup
Project: Mount Holly Springs Watershed Cleanup
Location: Pennsylvania
Description: On October 16, 2023, nine volunteers cleaned up the Mountain Creek Watershed in Mount Holly Springs, Pennsylvania, removing 684 pounds of trash. Volunteers donned waders and muck boots to help remove litter and dumping debris from access points and fishing areas along the creek.
Thank you to the partners who made this possible:
“Projects like this are a great way for many different types of recreationists to band together and make a difference on public lands. While this watershed was in great shape compared to many others in the region, efforts like this keep it looking the way it should. Both anglers and off-road users made a huge impact picking up microtrash, fishing waste and some dumped furniture that were close enough to the creek to be washed into the water during a storm, causing issues with fish and marine animal habitat that can easily be avoided.” -Scott Ammerman, Northeast Program Manager with Tread Lightly! and lifelong fly fisherman.
