20 Dec Tread Lightly! Impact Report: Official Kingston Pass Cleanup Run
Project: Official Kingston Pass Cleanup Run
Project Location: Colorado
Description: On October 19, 2024, five vehicles and 10 volunteers from the Rising Sun 4 Wheel Drive Club of Colorado enjoyed a beautiful, scenic trail ride while cleaning up the forest roads along the way.
Rising Sun members regularly travel these iconic USFS roads teaching the Tread Lightly! T.R.E.A.D. principles, especially everyone doing their part to keep the forest roads clean. It was a perfect time of year in the forest with a light dusting of snow on the ground to highlight the tall evergreen trees.
As with their cleanup earlier in October at Argentine Pass, forest users had been very respectful taking their trash with them. As a result, there were only a handful of bags of trash needing removed, totaling 180 pounds.
Thank you to the following partners for their support:
“Thank you to such wonderful partners like the Overland Expo Foundation and for the volunteers from Rising Sun 4 Wheel Drive Club in Colorado for your support of Tread Lightly! and your efforts to help keep our beautiful forests and public lands clean, safe and open for recreation. It is through our great partners and volunteers all over the country that helps us Protect the Adventure for current and future generations to enjoy these beautiful lands.”-Lowell Eckart, Southeast Program Manager, Tread Lightly!
