09 Jul Tread Lightly! Impact Report: Pennal Gulch Cleanup
Project: Pennal Gulch Cleanup
Location: Idaho
Description: On May 19, 2024, 14 volunteers as well as representatives from the Bureau of Land Management worked to clean up a popular motorized trail near Challis, Idaho. Pennal Gulch is popular for all types of recreation and over the years has collected trash from illegal dumping. After the day was complete volunteers removed approximately 500 pounds of trash along about a four mile section of motorized route.
Thank you to the partners who made this possible:
- Bureau of Land Management-Challis Field Office
- Idaho State Parks
- Mountain West Recreation Alliance
- U.S. Forest Service.
“What a great day to be out with all of our partners in Idaho to help clean-up this area. We had a ton of support from BLM and Mountain West Recreation Alliance. We made a big difference out here today.”- Evan Robins, Tread Lightly! National Stewardship Program Manager
