Tread Lightly! Impact Report: Polaris EV Educational Signage Installation

Project: Polaris EV Educational Signage Installation
Location: Michigan

Description: On October 23 and 24, 2023, Tread Lightly! and a small crew of volunteers from Hamilton’s North Coast Adventures, a Polaris Adventures Outfitter in Ontonagon, Michigan, spent two days installing TL! information kiosks and new signage designed by Tread Lightly! at the new Polaris Electric Off-Road vehicle charging stations in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. This groundbreaking project will add a network of charging stations to nearly 100 miles of existing ORV trails.

Thank you to the partners who made this possible:

“Having Tread Lightly! assist with the signage of the World’s First EV Off-road trail system was a huge asset.  TL! provided contemporary signage that aligned with other public facing trail projects that helped provide a cohesiveness to our trailheads.  Using a partner like TL! helped provide us a very professional trailhead putting mapping information and rider etiquette reminders side by side.  Without either, we won’t have much!”-Steve Hamilton, Hamilton’s North Coast Adventures

“Thank you to Tread Lightly! and Hamilton’s North Coast Adventures for bringing responsible recreation messaging to this first-of-it’s-kind off-road EV charging network. Naturally, we at Polaris support Tread Lightly!’s mission to protect off-road trail access and public lands through stewardship projects and responsible recreation education. Given that the Polaris EV charging stations in the Western UP are open to on-road EV’s as well, the TL! Signs and maps play an important part of sharing information about this unique curated off-road EV experience with the public. We look forward to continuing to work with TL! to protect our trails and we are proud to have them as a partner in this pilot.” -Kevin Dwyer, Polaris
