03 Jan Tread Lightly! Impact Report: Ward Canyon Cleanup with My Medic
Project: Ward Canyon Cleanup with My Medic
Project Location: Utah
Description: On October 25, Tread Lightly! hosted its annual fall cleanup of Ward Canyon in Bountiful, Utah. With the help of three volunteers and help from the Salt Lake Ranger District, 550 pounds of trash were removed from this heavily used area.
Because of the proximity to the metro area of Salt Lake City, this area is heavily used for recreational shooting. There are multiple pull-offs along Ward Canyon littered with shooting trash and other debris. The team spent the day cleaning these areas and enjoying one of the last warm days of the season. A big thank you to the volunteers who came out today and supported this project and gave back to our public lands, My Medic for sponsoring this project, and the Salt Lake Ranger District.
Thank you to the following partners for their support:
“I’ve come up here since I first had my license. I appreciate everything that TL! and the Forest Service do to maintain these roads and keep access open. It was great to be able to bring my family out here and have fun giving back.”- Landis Allen – Volunteer
“This was my family’s first time volunteering and helping out our public lands. We’ve enjoyed this area and it was really fun to see how nice it looked after we worked to clean it up. It’s important to be a good example of how to treat our public lands for our kids and the community.”- Michelle Allen – Volunteer
