09 Apr Tread Lightly! Impact Report: Appalachian Outlaw Trail Rider Development Course
Project: Appalachian Outlaw Trail Rider Development Course
Location: West Virginia
Description: This project was funded by Can-Am Off-Road. Can-Am has committed to funding trail stewardship projects in partnership with Tread Lightly! to help maintain and improve access to public lands and off-road trails.
In the fall of 2024, Tread Lightly! and Appalachian Outlaw Trails with gracious support from Can-Am Off-Road developed a new rider education course on the Appalachian Outlaw Trails OHV Park in central West Virginia.
The new driver course includes a mud trailing element, rock crawling obstacles, hill climb and winch recovery area. This location will be an amazing place for new and seasoned drivers to get a chance to practice important driving skills and riding ethics when out on the trail.
Thank you to the partners who made this possible:
“We’d like to extend a special thank you to Can-Am and Eric Larch of Mountain Made Off Road for their dedicated work to conserve and create new off-road driving opportunities in the great state of West Virginia.”-Evan Robins, Tread Lightly! Assistant Director-Programs
