Tread Lightly! announces new California Program Coordinator

NORTH SALT LAKE, Utah (Jun 20, 2022)— Tread Lightly!, a U.S.-based nonprofit dedicated to promoting responsible outdoor recreation through stewardship and educational programs today announced the addition of a new Program Coordinator in California.

Since 2021, the Tread Lightly! team has grown by adding three new Program Managers to represent the Pacific Northwest, Nevada and Southeastern region of the United States. Brandon Alvarez is the newest member of the Tread Lightly! team to continue this effort across the state of California.

As the California Program Coordinator, Alvarez will create and foster relationships with the land managers that allow for the implementation of Tread Lightly!’s stewardship, education, and outreach programs.

Alvarez joins the team bringing 16 years of experience in off-road motorsports and a passion for preserving public access to natural areas throughout California. A native San Diegan, he grew up crawling around stacks of race tires and enjoying the magic of SCORE’s racing series since before he could walk. Later, he joined the off-roading community professionally, first as a tire-fitter and groover stateside and as a fueler when the races headed to Baja and later shifting into marketing, working as an agency partner on the BFGoodrich Tires Enthusiast Events team.

“California offers countless incredible off-roading experiences across the state and it’s important to unify the off-road recreation communities to keep access open,” said Matt Caldwell, Tread Lightly! Executive Director. “Brandon’s passion and expertise for protecting public lands and trails will serve well to that end and improve California’s off-roading opportunities in numerous ways.”
