Project #8 of 12
Project: Ward Canyon National Public Lands Day Project
Location: Bountiful, Utah
Description: This project was funded by Can-Am Off-Road. Can-Am has committed to funding twelve trail stewardship projects in the state of Utah in partnership with Tread Lightly! to help maintain and improve access to public lands and off-road trails.
On September 24, 2022, five volunteers along with four USFS Staff worked on the Ward Canyon Road Corridor above Bountiful, Utah to clean-up trash and debris that had accumulated in the canyon over the summer recreation season. Ward Canyon is a popular recreation area in close proximity to Salt Lake City. It is popular for multiple forms of recreation including OHV uses. Together volunteers removed 1,254 pounds of trash from the corridor, improving five miles of trail. Additionally, nearly 20 pounds of nails from illegal pallet burning were removed from parking areas and pullouts. The volunteers also installed responsible recreation, educational signage along the road.
